Notice of WASPI Women Motion by the Liberal Democrat Group

The Ombudsman has given Parliament the job of righting the injustice for WASPI women, as one affected woman dies every 13 minutes waiting for justice.
Proposed by Councillor F Oborski
Seconded by Councillor Shazu Miah
- The decision by the UK Labour Government not to offer compensation to women who were not properly notified of the increase in the pension age as recommended by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman despite leading Cabinet Members and local Labour MPs campaigning for justice on this issue.
- That many women are out of pocket as a result of this change and deserve to be compensated for it.
Council resolves to mandate the Leader to write to the Prime Minister asking him to reconsider this decision and to provide the compensation that he and other members of his Cabinet and many Labour MPs campaigned for when in opposition.
