Why Does Stourport Never Get The Relief Road It's Been Promised?
Mark Garnier Conservative MP for Wyre Forest secured an Adjournment Debate on the case for a relief road for Stourport.
This was not a full debate or even one that would require a vote β it was a chance to speak in the main chamber, directly to the Transport Minister responsible for Roads for up to 30 minutes, and ask for the Relief Road.
This was one of his key election pledges.
He made the case, and he was given a very definitive answer.
NO.
Not only did the Minister say NO but she told him βhe should be speaking to the County Council about their plans for a relief road and ask them for the funding.β
The same County Council which his party the Conservatives have led, and who have overseen Highways and Infrastructure developments for more than two decades β and whilst his party were in Government for over 14 years.
So why is it that Stourport has had to wait until his party are no longer in Government, and running scared at County level, for this question to be asked?
When they built more houses in Kidderminster, they built roads, a new bridge, traffic lights, and upgraded a roundabout.
We are not getting anything - despite having unwelcomed housing dumped on our borders and Government mandates to build more houses. More houses than have currently been built on the old sugar beet site.
Yet again, Stourport is being left behind.
Stourport needs its voice to be heard!
We need real change NOW for a Fair Deal for Stourport.
This is why we need the County Council elections to take place in May 2025, and make that change.
