I'm fed up with Stourport being left behind by the people we elect to represent us.
I'm fed up with Stourport not having a plan for its future.
I'm fed up that this town has had to play second fiddle to others whilst our heritage is destroyed and opportunities ignored or thrown away.
We need to bring about real change so that we can get a fairer deal for Stourport.
Destination Management:
Stourport is a Tourist Town that does not promote its tourism. Collectively little is done to promote the town or its heritage to potential visitors.
I will work with others to develop a proper Destination Management Plan. A Destination Management Plan would include improvements to local public transport and targeted actions to improve the street and green space areas in the town to make them more welcoming.
Purple Flag Status- an internationally recognised scheme which is designed to support and improve the Night Time and Visitor Economy.
Stourport has a fantastic night life with a great mix of Pubs, venues, and Restaurants that owners and residents have put a lot of time and effort into. Our Councils need to match that energy and support. Purple Flag status shows that Stourport is a safe place for people to come and enjoy a night out.

Stourports Traffic Nightmare: We Need Action now!
Seriously, how long are we going to sit in gridlock?
Stourport's traffic is a disaster, and it's only getting worse with the all the new houses being built in and around Stourport and Areley Kings!
Everywhere we go, on almost every doorstep we've visited, people are talking about it. It's time for some real solutions, not just empty promises.
We demand a proper Transport Plan and Strategy for Stourport!
15 Years of Silence, Now Talk?
Mark Garnier after 15 years in Parliament - and 6 months after entering opposition -
suddenly brings up Stourport's traffic in the House of Commons? And gets told to "talk to the County Council"? Seriously?
19 Years of County Control, ZERO Action!
Conservatives at County Hall, you've had 19 years!
Where's the plan? Where's the action?
Money wasted on pointless projects elsewhere while we're stuck in traffic!
The “Local Transport Plan” Joke!
The County's "Local Transport Plan" (2018-2030) mentions Stourport 18 times in a 70 page document.
5 are for walking/cycling, 8 are map mentions (again, mostly walking/cycling).
The first REAL mention? page 58, admitting our tourism importance.
The actual "strategy" is a table on page 68.
There is a picture of the table attached to this post.
70 pages, and all we get is a tiny table on page 68 - that's it!

We demand a proper Transport Plan and Strategy for Stourport!
But let's also be realistic: a new bridge is years away and costly.
We need immediate, cost-effective solutions!
Here are a few ideas:
1- Red Lines on High Street: Replace double yellows with enforced red lines. We need this bottleneck eased, and if the District Council won't enforce it properly, we need to consider alternatives.
2- Gilgal Traffic Flow Fix: Send traffic around the Worcester Road Island like they did after the last big Anglo House crash. It works, and will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians.
It only needs some simple signs and barriers.
3. Vale Road Turn Left Only: Left turn only from the Lidl car park to the lights.
It only needs a bit of paint and signage!
4- Reverse Lombard Street Flow: Allow traffic from High Street to Bewdley Road via Lombard Street. This will not only ease the traffic flow it but takes it through the “secondary shopping area” providing a potential boost for local shops.
Just a little more paint and signage!
These are practical, very affordable solutions that will make a difference NOW!
Vote for Liberal Democrats on the 1st of May and we will demand a proper Transport Plan and Strategy for Stourport!
If elected I will make this demand in the first meeting I attend on the 22nd May - and if I have to repeat it at every meeting until we secure a plan, the so be it!
