Cllr Shazu Miah for Wyre Forest

I have lived in Kidderminster all my life and having been educated at local schools and college, I returned to live in Kidderminster after doing a Law Degree in Stoke. My children go to local schools and I have businesses in the area. Also known as "Shaz", I live with my wife and 5 children. I play and watch most sports, but mainly football and cricket. I try to get to watch the Harriers as often as possible. When I was young I used to write about my adventures, with my friends and our adventures around different parts of the Wyre Forest.

Community Work

I am a WFDC Councillor for the Offmore Comberton Ward, since May 2016. I regularly work with residents and I have continuously campaigned against the closure of the St Georges Park Paddling pool, presented petitions on behalf of parents and schools against the loss of the school crossing patrol on Birmingham Road and supported residents on the Local Plans to save as much of our Green Belt as possible.

As Chairman, I have supported several charities: .

Working with The Progressive Alliance (a grouping of councillors from different parties including Liberal Democrats, Independent Health Concern, Greens, Labour and Independent Councillors) several initiatives close to my heart have been adopted by the council, including the planting of trees, the climate emergency, electric car charging points, awareness of LGBT and hidden disabilities.

I BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY REGARDLESS OF BACKGROUND AND BE GIVEN THE BEST OPPOTUNITES IN LIFE.
