Cllr Tim Schmeising-Barnes Championing Lickhill North
I've lived in Stourport for 30 years, leaving to go to university and a subsequent career and returning 20 years ago to raise our family in a great town that had almost everything we needed whilst retaining a sense of community. As our children grew up, we also fostered for a local authority so we've kept a house full of children since moving to Stourport.
My career has been in project management, in large global companies as well as major UK organisations. For the last 5 years, I've worked for a software & consultancy company helping many NHS Trusts and public sector organisations deliver better projects. Recently, I reduced my working hours to spend time on other projects.
I've always been a Liberal Democrat (or Liberal) and have enjoyed getting involved in local campaigning over the past 5 years.
What do I stand for?
I'm deeply concerned that Stourport is losing its character and its centre. The High Street and Bridge Street have too many empty premises and Bridge Street is looking shabby. Too many potential improvements over the last 20 years have been cancelled or delivered badly (no Bridge or relief road, a new basin with no boats, a permanently "temporary" car park where a "Gateway to the basins" was promised, etc).
I'd like to help change this and help to realise the massive potential the town has.
Recently, I've been appointed as Trustee and Board Chairman of the Civic Group. I've long admired the great work that they've done supporting a fabulous programme of events for the community.
I'm also gently encouraging a number of groups to help get Heritage Harbour status for Stourport.
I BELIEVE THAT THE WYRE FOREST HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE IN THE MIDLANDS
