Wyre Forest's Liberal Democrat and Liberal parties have united behind Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Neville Farmer with a regeneration plan for Kidderminster.

The proposed ideas include:

• An elected youth forum to give Kidderminster's young people a say.

• A light rail shuttle between Kidderminster, Foley Park and Bewdley.

• Prioritising family-sized rental and low-cost housing.

• 20mph Home Zones to give the side streets back to the residents.

• Town centre Shop Mobility buggies and rail passes for the elderly.

• A community led survey of road surfaces and potholes.

• A tree sponsorship scheme for school children to help our

environment.

• Reduced packaging and bins at supermarkets to cut domestic

waste.

• An internet cafe at Kidderminster Youth Club and free Wi-Fi in

cafes.

• An annual festival to celebrate Kidderminster's musical heritage.

On May 30th, Neville Farmer and Councillors Helen Dyke, Fran Oborski and Michael Price, and Lib Dem Chair, Samantha Walker as well as other party members delivered a document to the council that they call "the outline of a unified plan for Kidderminster" as part of the council's "Connecting Kidderminster" scheme.

"Many of Kidderminster's issues are interconnected and require a 'joined-up' approach," says Neville Farmer. "For instance, we can't cut youth crime without understanding the needs of the young. We cannot create new jobs on the British Sugar site if we don't deal with the traffic in Foley Park and Stourport. And attracting retailers to the town centre requires an innovative range of incentives for shoppers."

"These are just ideas at the moment and are just a few of the plans we are developing," says Mr Farmer. "These proposals are the start of what we intend to be a fully costed blueprint for the whole Wyre Forest area," says Liberal Councillor, Fran Oborski. "Our two parties are united behind Neville Farmer in that effort and hope the rest of the council will be, as well."
