Planning Application Submitted for Herons Nursing Home

There has been a planning application submitted from the Herons Nursing Home for the erection of 11 apartments (close care retirement dwellings) on the site of their disused building. There are also amendments to the laundry facilities and entrance approach together with new visibility splays and landscaping.

Blocked Drains

Although some of the blocked drains and gullies around Aggborough and Spennells have been cleared since the floods, there are still some needing attention. If you know of any that should be cleaned out please report them to Councillor Helen and Peter Dyke on 01562 741955.

Thanks for Prompt Action

Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke would like to say Thank You to District Council Staff for their prompt action when travellers attempted to gain access to Spennells Playing Fields recently. The main entrance to the field was blocked by a council vehicle and the travellers were escorted along the Worcester Road by police.

Recommendation to Axe Park and Ride

At a meeting of the Community and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee it was recommended to the cabinet that the Park and Ride service operating from Stadium Close Car Park on Hoo Road be terminated. This recommendation is likely to go to Cabinet Committee at the end of August for a final decision. This service has been reviewed due to the lack of use and the ongoing financial losses.
If the final decision is to axe the service then its is likely to end the New Year.

Maggots in Wheelie Bins

Councillor Helen Dyke received many complaints from residents last year who had been having problems with maggots in their wheelie bins during the very hot weather. She took all these complaints very seriously and can report that Wyre Forest District Council are providing a bin disinfecting / cleaning service this year to residents who have maggots or bad smells in their wheelie bin.Residents need to phone 01562 732928 and ask for the service.

These unwanted items will either be refurbished for re-use or used as spares. the organisation is a registered charity and does ask for a small donation to remove items from your home.

Over 55 Club Continue to Use Community Centre
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Members of the very popular Over 55 Club were concerned that they would not be able to continue to use the Community Centre for their meetings as the school would be using some of the centre in the future. Councillor Helen Dyke arranged for the Head Teacher to attend one of the clubs meetings to assure them it would be business as usual for them. In the new term the school and the club may be looking at working together on various projects.
