News Release from Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke

November 28, 2006 1:04 PM

Enough Talking, We Need Action!!!

Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke are urging all local residents who feel let down by the current level of police services to put their complaints in writing. They are also asking you to report any incidents of crime including Anti Social Behaviour, Vandalism and Criminal Damage that you experience to the police. They are not promising or suggesting you will get a visit from the police about each report but as policing now appears to be driven by statistics and priorities perhaps it is time we started piling on the pressure to make our voices heard and highlight our local statistics!

Councillor Peter Dyke says" The service we receive from the police is just not good enough, this is not an attack on our local police who we feel are doing their best in difficult circumstances but it has to be time that the people at the top listen to local people and take action to improve the service as soon as is possible. It is time to stop talking and get action from the Police Authority and the Chief Constable!"

"It won't be long before budget setting time fro the Council Tax and the Police Authority will be looking for extra funding but why should we pay more money and get less every year?" asked Councillor Helen Dyke. "At the moment we do not feel we are getting value for money, anti social behaviour and criminal damage may not be headline grabbers but they really affect people's quality of life and there are no police around to combat it".

"If we Continue to suffer from this lack of policing all the good positive work that has been done by local officers in all areas will disappear and we will be back to square one and it then becomes obvious that it will cost more money and officers to put things any near right again "commented Councillor Peter Dyke.

Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke will be launching a petition on Wednesday the 15th November asking for more and better policing in the Aggborough and Spennells Area. In due course this petition will be delivered to every house in that area and the aim is to forward all completed petitions to the Chief and Assistant Constables of West Mercia Police as soon as possible.

If anyone would like a copy of the petition or the names and addresses of who to complain to please contact Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke on 01562 741955
