Let's Stop Crime Together

July 26, 2006 8:31 PM

Councillor's Helen and Peter Dyke have contacted fellow Liberal Democrat Councillors in Liverpool who have been successful in gating off some problem walkways. Helen and Peter have asked for help, information and advice, about whether it would be possible to attempt the process here should it be possible to do in some areas. They have arranged a fact finding visit to Liverpool on August 16th where they will meet Dave Antrobus who is the Portfolio Holder responsible for Community Safety in Liverpool and they will also be meeting the team that has undertaken the gating off of these gateways.

Helen and Peter are taking this action because of questions raised by residents to Councillors Helen and Peter Dyke.

Peter says"We are not making any promises but we will look at whether these gating orders could or should be implemented in Aggborough and Spennells. We feel that we should be able to provide residents with as much information as possible. We will then be able to report back to residents at the next meeting of Partners And Community Together. Also if after a full investigation we find this isn't suitable for our area then at least everyone knows all the avenues have been fully explored".
