The Safer Routes to School initiative is a government funded project. The funds are there for the County Council to implement these schemes so councillors Helen and Peter Dyke cannot understand just why its is taking so long for the Spennells scheme to get up and running.Helen and Peter are keeping up the pressure on County Council Officers to get action as soon as possible.
The main concerns raised so far have been about speeding on Heronswood and Spennells Valley Road. Therefore the suggested ideas to make the routes to school safer are:
1) A new signal controlled crossing on Spennells Valley Road between Mallard Avenue and Comberton Road
2)Junction improvements to Mallard Avenue at the junction of Spennells Valley Road.
3)Junction improvements to Heronswood Road at the junction of Spennells Valley Road to the end opposite stourminster School
4)A new signal controlled crossing on Heronswood road outside the entrance of Spennells First School.
5)Junction improvements to Heronswood Road at the junction of Spennells Valley Road at the Amada factory end.
These are the proposed plans, please let Helen and Peter know if you have any comments or concerns about these proposals on 01562 471955
